FAQ

Beginner questions, answered.

Can AI clone my voice?
Yes. Current tools can produce a convincing clone from a short audio sample. The practical defense is a family or team code word and a habit of hanging up and calling back on a number you already have.
How do I know if a video is fake?
Start with context rather than the pixels. Find the original source, look for the same story elsewhere, and check the posting account. Then pause on individual frames and watch for audio delay, odd blinking, and flickering along the jawline.
Should I freeze my credit?
For most people, yes. A freeze is free, reversible, and blocks new accounts from being opened in your name. You lift it temporarily when you apply for credit and let it re-freeze afterward.
Is public Wi-Fi safe?
Much safer than it used to be, because most websites are encrypted. The real risks are fake hotspots imitating a nearby business and ignoring certificate warnings, so confirm the exact network name and never dismiss a security warning.
What is MFA?
Multi-factor authentication asks for a second proof beyond your password, such as an app code or a passkey. It blocks the large majority of account takeover attempts and is free on nearly every major service.
